Notes:
Despite the unpopularity of the gold guarter guinea during the reign of George I, it was again considered necessary to produce this denomination to fill the gap between the low denomination silver and the larger gold coins. The coin met the same fate as its predecessor, being struck for one year only. The tiny size of the coin made it impractical, many were put aside as keepsakes, and when used, the coin was easily lost.
