Sovereigns were struck in Britain and at various British colonial mints. Coins with no mintmark are British issues. Apart from the 'S' (Sydney), 'M' (Melbourne) and 'P' (Perth) mintmarks of Australian issues detailed here, sovereigns were issued by the Ottawa Mint in Canada ('C'), the Bombay Mint in India ('I') and the Pretoria Mint in South Africa ('SA').
