1989 - 94 TWO HUNDRED DOLLAR PRIDE of AUSTRALIA SERIES


The Pride of Australia Series consisting of six Two Hundred Dollar 22 carat gold coins was released in both Proof and Specimen grade, one coin per year, by the Royal Australian Mint over the six years from 1989 to 1994.

The reverse designs of the 6 coins depict:

  • 1989 Frilled Necked Lizard,
  • 1990 Platypus,
  • 1991 Emu,
  • 1992 Echidna,
  • 1993 Squirrel Glider and
  • 1994 Tasmanian Devil
  • The second last coin, the Squirrel Glider, having the lowest mintages of the series, has determined the maximum number of available Pride of Australia sets - 3,014 Specimen and 5,000 Proof.
