1989 - 94 Piedfort Ten Dollar Birds of Australia Series


The Piedfort Birds of Australia Series consisting of six double thickness Proof Silver Ten Dollar coins was released, one coin per year, by the Royal Australian Mint over the six years from 1989 to 1994.

The reverse designs of the 6 coins depict:

  • 1989 Kookaburra,
  • 1990 White Cockatoo,
  • 1991 Jabiru,
  • 1992 Emperor Penguin,
  • 1993 Palm Cockatoo and
  • 1994 Wedge Tailed Eagle.
  • Mintage was limited to 15,000 Piedfort $10 coins in each of the six years that the series ran.

    A special wooden presentation case with plush green velvet trim was sold separately to house the collection.
