1985-93 Ten Dollar State Series |

The Australian State Series consisting of eight Ten Dollar silver coins was released in both Proof and Specimen grade, one coin per year, by the Royal Australian Mint over the nine years from 1985 to 1993. The series was interrupted for one year in 1988 when a $10 coin commemorating Australia's bicentennial of the landing of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove, not considered to be part of the series, was issued. The reverse designs of the 8 coins depict the Coat of Arms of each of Australia's States and Territories. They are: A special black hinged lid presentation case was released to house the entire collection. The last coin, the Australian Capital Terrirory, having the lowest mintages of the series, has determined the maximum number of available State Series sets - 19,288 Specimen and 21,183 Proof.
