1997Coins of the Harbour City Dual Ten Dollar Set

In 1997, the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra released a Coins of the Harbour City Dual Ten Dollar Set. This is the first in an Australian Landmarks series. The two coins in the set are:
  • Sydney Harbour Bridge Ten Dollar and
  • Sydney Opera House Ten Dollar.
With its combination of natural beauty and man-made marvels, Sydney Harbour is the heart of one of the world's great and most recognised cities. As a spectacle, by day or by night, it has few equals. Looming over the harbour and linking communities in the north to the city center, the Sydney Harbour Bridge is both an icon and a lifeline, a source of frustration and a focus of the city's identity. On the other side of Circular Quay, the Opera House both complements and contrasts with the famous 'coathanger'. Designed by Danish architect Joern Utzon, and completed in 1973, its graceful 'sails' present a stunning prospect from land or water.
These two structures have become among the most recognisable symbols of Australia and are a fitting introduction to the 'Australian Landmark' series.

A total of 20,000 sets were released with the two coins being housed, encapsulated in an orange, hinged-lid presentation case and protected by a colourful cardboard box.
