Notes:The Western Australian Bank was established in Perth in 1841 by dissident shareholders of the Bank of Western Australia when it was taken over by the Bank of Australasia. With little competition, the bank flourished, surviving for 86 years until it was absorbed by the Bank of New South Wales in 1927, now part of the Westpac Banking Group Limited.In 1911, the Western Australian Bank was one of 16 banks who supplied blank note forms to the Australian Government. These notes were superscribed as redeemable in gold and issued as the first Commonwealth notes.
