1998 Silver Old Head Twenty Cents |

With the changeover to decimal coinage on February 14, 1966, the twenty cent piece replaced the florin or two shilling coin. Along with all the other new decimal coins, it was designed by Stuart Devlin, Australian born and later to become Prime Warden of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths in London.

The new decimal currency was the subject of an extensive government information campaign. Among the strategies employed were 'Dollar Jills' who distributed information to the public, the 'Dollar Bill' advertising character, and even a 'Coin Zoo' where the new coins were paired with the animals they depicted.
