This proof coin was encapsulated and distributed in a hinged lid presentation case. It is the first in a series of four ten dollar coins issued between 1995 and 1998 displaying endangered species of Australian fauna.
At the NAA Coin Fair held in Melbourne during July 1995, a limited edition issue of 1,000 standard numbat proof coins were sold, each accompanied by a specially numbered certificate.
