1901-2003 Perth Mint Flagpole Edition Sovereign Set

In 2003, a flagpole which had stood above the Perth Mint building since 1901 was withdrawn from service. The oregon timber forming the base of the flagpole was meticulously sliced to form 130 square presentation blocks. The Perth Mint mounted, encapsulated on each block, a 1901 Perth Mint sovereign, a 2003 quarter ounce gold proof $25 and a numbered, gold-plated silver medallion.

The cylindrical upper portion of the flagpole was used to create 220 circular blocks. On each of these blocks, the Perth Mint mounted a 1901 P sovereign.
