This set represents the annual release by the Perth Mint of proof versions of Australia's bullion collector gold coins. The 2001 5 coin set comprises:

$100 - One Ounce Prospector with Colour,

$50 - Half Ounce Two Kangaroos,

$25 - Quarter Ounce Two Kangaroos,

$15 - Tenth Ounce Two Kangaroos and

$5 - Twentieth Ounce Two Kangaroos.

The 650 mintage limit for the 2001 5 coin gold proof set was fully subscribed. The coins in the set are housed, individually encapsulated, in a hinged-lid marri presentation case, accompanied by a serially-numbered, coloured, gold-plated silver medallion.
