2003 6 Coin Proof Set

This set represents the annual release by the Royal Australian Mint of proof versions of Australia's circulating coins. The 2003 set consists of six coins, arranged in the form of the Southern Cross:
  • Five Cents,
  • Ten Cents,
  • Volunteers Twenty Cents,
  • Volunteers Fifty Cents,
  • Colour Volunteers Dollar and
  • Two Dollars
  • The six coins were housed, sealed in a see-both-sides hard plastic case and presented in a special Tahitian Blue protective wallet and a colourful presentation box.

    Notes:

Three of the coins in the set were struck to honour Australia's volunteers, over 4 million dedicated Australians embracing the Universal Declaration on Volunteering, 'a fundamental building block of civil society that brings to life the noblest aspirations of humankind'. These individuals, who quietly 'make a difference' across all avenues of society, have been given a face and due recognition.

The colour used for the Volunteers Dollar was restricted to the proof versions only.

The Royal Australian Mint also released a Baby Proof Set in 2003. See the separate entry.
