1994 The Explorers II Masterpieces in Silver

The 1994 Explorers II Masterpieces in Silver set issued by the Royal Australian Mint consists of five Proof Sterling Silver (.925 Fine) Five Dollar coins with reverse designs which continue the previous year's theme paying tribute to the people who pioneered the development of Australia.

The reverse designs of the 5 coins in the set depict:

  • John McDouall Stuart,
  • Sir Douglas Mawson,
  • Charles Sturt,
  • Ludwig Leichardt and
  • Sir John Forrest. The issue was not fully subscribed with a total of only 18,312 sets being sold from a mintage limit of 20,000.
