1993 The Explorers I Masterpieces in Silver

The 1993 Explorers I Masterpieces in Silver set issued by the Royal Australian Mint consists of five Proof Sterling Silver (.925 Fine) Five Dollar coins with reverse designs which pay tribute to first inhabitants of Australia and early European contact with the Australian continent.

The issue was not fully subscribed with a total of only 12,349 sets being sold from a mintage limit of 20,000. The set is the first Australian $5 collection ever produced and it is also the first time the Royal Australian Mint has dedicated a series to an historical theme.
