1993 Olympic Games Silver Proof Pair


The Royal Australian Mint was selected by the IOC, as one of five partner mints, to participate in a five year program celebrating the first 100 years of the modern Olympic Games. As part of the program, sets consisting of Proof Sterling Silver twenty five dollar pairs were released.

The pair were distributed in a burgundy leatherette, hinged lid presentation case carrying the IOC Olympic rings and the centennial dates 1896 -1996. The set consists of 2 Proof Sterling Silver (.925 Fine) Twenty Dollar coins with reverse designs portraying:

  • Friendship and

  • Fair Play. Of the 6,199 pairs sold, 500 specially packaged sets were released at the Sydney NAA Coin Fair held in March, 1993.
