1991 8 Coin Mint Set


This set represents the annual release by the Royal Australian Mint of Australia's circulating coins. The set contains the last release of Australia's:
  • One Cent and
  • Two Cents coins. Other coins in the set are:
  • Five Cents,
  • Ten Cents,
  • Twenty Cents,
  • 25th Decimal Anniversary 'Ram' Fifty Cents,
  • One Dollar and
  • Two Dollars.
    A total of 169,557 mint sets were released, the eight coins being housed, sealed in a fold-out see-both-sides, colourful presentation bubble pack and enclosed in a protective envelope.

    Notes:

    This set commemorates the 25th Anniversary of Australia's conversion to decimal currency. February 14th, 1966 is a date many Australians will never forget. It was on this day, C-Day, that Australians began handing back to the banks pounds, shillings and pence and using, in their place, dollars and cents. The set also represents the end of an era by including the final issue of 1 and 2 cent coins which have not been minted since.

    A very limited Singapore coin fair edition of 200 mint sets were released. The outer case of the sets has a yellow sticker with the words 'One in 200. This is only one of 200 specially packaged sets produced for the International Convention'. The set also contains a special certificate. Valuation details are shown in the following table:
