1979 6 Coin Proof Set

This set represents the annual release by the Royal Australian Mint of proof versions of Australia's circulating coins. The 1979 set consists of six coins:
  • One Cent,
  • Two Cents,
  • Five Cents,
  • Ten Cents,
  • Twenty Cents and
  • Fifty Cents. A total of 36,000 proof sets were released, the six coins being housed, sealed inside a see-both-sides hard plastic case.

    A variety of the 1979 Fifty Cent coin with two bars behind the head of the emu on the reverse has been found in a small number of 1979 proof sets. See the separate entry for details.
