1966 6 Coin Mint Set - Type 5 VIP Presentation Wallet

A total of 520 1966 mint sets, each issued in a dark blue wallet with a gold printed Australian Coat of Arms and the date 14th February, 1966, were presented as a gift to dignitaries at the launch of Australia's decimal currency. One of the scarcer of the many types of mint set issued in 1966, the set contains six coins:

One Cent,
Two Cents,
Five Cents,
Ten Cents,
Twenty Cents and the

Round Silver Fifty Cents.

Notes:

The 1966 mint set was released in a number of different forms. The most common was the six-coin card which was issued with London Type 5, 10 and 20 cent coins and with all Australian minted coins. 1966 Mint sets were also released in a blue wallet by the Royal Australian Mint and by the Reserve Bank in red, blue, green and black wallets.
