1966 6 Coin Proof Set - Sealed Case

All 1966 proof sets were issued in an unsealed, hinged lid presentation case. A total of just 12 sets were later used in an experimental sealed, see-both-sides hard plastic case. This case was later used to house proof sets issued in the years from 1969 to 1984.

The coins contained in the experimental case are:

  • Two Cents,

  • Five Cents,

  • Ten Cents,

  • Twenty Cents and the

  • Round Silver Fifty Cents.

    Notes:

Even though the coins in these sets were sealed, the fact that they were experimental in nature has resulted in many of the sets now containing toned coins, particularly the bronze 1 and 2 cent pieces and the round silver 50 cent coin. This toning normally significantly reduces the value of the set as shown in the above table (aFDC).
