1951 4 Coin 'PL' Proof Set


In 1951, the Royal Mint, London was commissioned to strike a portion of Australia's circulation coinage in four denominations - sixpence, threepence, penny and halfpenny. Following normal tradition, the Royal Mint struck a small quantity of each denomination in proof form. The coins were distributed in approximately 20 sets, mainly to mints throughout the Commonwealth where, in most cases, they were retained in archives.
