Issued by the Royal Australian Mint, Canberra, this collection incorporates coins representing the Australian Federation and each of the nine States and Territories of Australia. A total of 20,000 sets were released.

    • The coins, issued progressively throughout 2001, are encapsulated and housed in a specially designed loose-leaf folder with solid cardboard inserts. Late in 2001, all 20 coins in the collection were released into circulation. As a result, expectations for the value of this set to move upwards in the near future are not great.

    Notes:

    Unofficial Federation 20-Coin Uncirculated sets were released by a number of coin dealers. One example, with an issue price of $69 and a limited release of 2001 sets, included a Centenary of Federation Medal. This set, packaged in a colourful see-both-sides bubble pack and protected by an outer sleeve, gained some measure of 'official' status when it was advertised for sale to mail order customers by the Perth Mint in July, 2002 at a price of $79.
