 | In 1992, as a part of its Sesqui-Centenary (150 Years) celebrations, the Gold Coast Local Government issued sets of 7 Trade Dollar Tokens.
Each set contained one ten dollar, one five dollar and five one dollar trade tokens in gold, silver and bronze coloured metals respectively.
Struck at the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra, the trade dollars were used in exchange for goods and services throughout the Gold Coast during 1992, even to the extent of being accepted by local banks in exchange for legal tender notes and coins. |
