1995 Lord Howard Florey $50 Note & 10 Pane of Stamps Premium Portfolio

Note Printing Australia and Australia Post jointly issued a Premium Portfolio in 1995 featuring an HF Prefix, Red Serials $50 paper note and a specially produced pane of 10 $2.50 postage stamps.

The Portfolio commemorates the 50th anniversary of Lord Howard Florey's Nobel Prize award winning achievements in 1945 associated with the practical application of Alexander Fleming's discovery of penicillin.

A total of 1,000 Premium portfolio's were sold. The $50 note in the portfolio has a serial number printed in red with a special prefix of HF (Howard Florey). The stamps are unique to the portfolio and the pane of 10 is numbered to match the note.

Notes:

There are significant premiums on low numbered sets. The following table provides an estimate of the value of the first Premium Portfolio with serial number HF 000001 which raised $2,400 for charity when it was initially offered for sale .
