To celebrate the release of the $100 polymer note for circulation, Note Printing Australia issued First & Last $100 Note Pairs in a Premium Portfolio. The polymer note in the set is overprinted with the date of issue - 15 May 1996. Both notes have matching red serial numbers in the range AA 96 000101 to 001000.
The notes in the set are:

1996 Fraser/Evans - Red Serials - 15 May 1996 Overprint $100 Polymer, and
-
1996 Fraser/Cole - AA 96 Prefix - $100 Paper.
A total of 900 sets were offered for sale.

A further 2,000 $100 First & Last Sets were released by Note Printing Australia in 1996 in an Embossed Deluxe Folder.
There are significant premiums on low numbered sets. The following table provides an estimate of the value of the first Premium Portfolio with serial number AA 96 000101 which raised $2,700 for charity when it was initially offered for sale .
