Notes:

The Tamar Bank was established in Launceston in 1834, taking over the existing business of the Bank of Van Diemen's Land in the northern areas of Tasmania.

Increasing competition as new banks opened branches in northern Tasmania led the company's directors to agree to a merger with the Union Bank of Australia Limited in 1838, now a part of the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited.
