Notes:Thomas Stace arrived in Van Diemen's in 1824. He acquired a land grant and unsuccessfully attempted firstly farming and then timber milling. Afterwards, he gained employment in the Customs Department then became a school teacher and finally worked as a farm hand. He died in 1860.Approximately 15 specimens of Stace's currency notes are believed to have survived. Of these, 6 have a demonimation of Sixpence. Stace also issued numerous handwritten promissory notes on various types of paper.
