Notes:

To help overcome the financial crisis and land crash of 1893, the Governments of most Australian colonies proposed legislation for Government note issues. Only Queensland and New South Wales actually issued notes.

In New South Wales, the notes were issued against the security of deposits in banks which had been forced to suspend trading. Up to half of a depositor's suspended bank credit balance was available to applicants. A total of £358,500 worth of notes was issued.
