Notes:

Written in Spanish Dollars, this note was issued in a period where a lack of circulating Pounds, Shillings and Pence led to the circulation of large numbers of Spanish dollars, including the famous Holey Dollars. Issue and use of the notes was prohibited by a British Act in 1826. The two dollar notes below are dated 20 June, 1823 and 5 July, 1823. Approximately 25 to 35 specimens of this note are believed to remain in existence.
