Notes:
Written in Spanish Dollars, this note was issued in a period where a lack of circulating Pounds, Shillings and Pence led to the circulation of large numbers of Spanish dollars, including the famous Holey Dollars. Issue and use of the notes was prohibited by a British Act in 1826.
The four dollar note examples below are dated 12 June, 1823 and 3 May, 1823. Approximately 15 to 25 specimens of this note are believed to remain in existence.
