Notes:

The note shown above was altered by overprint from an 1887 London Chartered Bank of Australia pound note after the bank had failed.
BRISBANE at the top, BRISBANE 1st December 1887 in the center, QUEENSLAND at the bottom and the two occurrences of the word CHARTERED in the bank's name were ruled through. LIMITED was added at the top, Melbourne replaced Brisbane as the branch of issue and the new date of issue was 1st July 1893. The example at left was overprinted on a one pound note form from the Melbourne branch of the defunct bank.
