Notes:

This first Commonwealth of Australia five pound note featured the Hawkesbury River at Brooklyn, New South Wales on the back and a band of red across the top and bottom of the note.

Approximately 693,442 of these notes were printed. Following the discovery of forgeries in 1914, the reverse design was modified for the next issue with the inclusion of a mosaic of 5's and colour phasing on the reverse.
