Notes:

To celebrate the hand-over of Hong Kong by Great Britain to China, a total of 5,000 Macfarlane/Evans Five Dollar notes were released with red serial numbers and a prefix of HK. The notes were distributed in a special presentation folder.
This is the first Australian Banknote issued specifically to commemorate an international event.

The 1997 Macfarlane/Evans $5 Polymer Hong Kong note was also included in an uncut sheet issue of 5,000 Blocks of 8.
