Notes:

Black Serial, Macfarlane/Evans Five Dollar notes with the serial number prefix QE were not issued for circulation. They were included in 2,000 Note/Stamp Deluxe Portfolio Folders issued jointly by Note Printing Australia and Australia Post to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the introduction of Decimal Currency in Australia.

The first 1,000 notes were printed with red serial numbers. The remaining 2,000 notes - from QE 96001001 to QE 96003000 were printed with black serial numbers.
