Notes:

As stocks of the fifty pound note dwindled, the decision was made to replenish supplies. The design of the denomination had not been altered, nor the signatures changed, since 1918.

The note was not issued immediately and in 1945, a decision was made to withdraw denominations above ten pounds from circulation. All stocks were destroyed in 1958 with only a small number being retained for archive purposes.
