Notes:
This note was the first Australian polymer banknote. It was issued to commemorate the 200th anniversary of European settlement, marked by the landing of the first fleet at Sydney Cove on 26 January, 1788. This special issue, overprinted in blue with the date 26 January 1988, was distributed in a colourful presentation folder. A total of 80,000 folders were released.
Note Printing Australia issued 499 special presentation folders to staff containing two AA 00 prefix notes. The notes had a very low number resulting in the third number of the serial also being 0.
