Notes:

Type 3 OCR-B specimen notes were released in 1983/84 to demonstrate the change in the font of lettering on the note from Gothic to OCR-B. The $100 note had not yet been issued at that time. When it was released, the specimens for the paper note differed slightly in style from the Type 3 specimens of the lower denomination paper notes - with markings similar to those used later for the Type 4 polymer specimens.

The speciman notes carry an individual specimen serial number apart from the all zeros main number and the lettering for the word 'SPECIMEN' is subdued, appearing only in medium type below the denomination on the note, apparently so that the main design could be better examined and appreciated. The $100 is the only paper note issued as a Type 4 specimen.
