Notes:

The Perth Mint Centenary Sovereign was issued in June, 1999 to celebrate the origins of the Perth Mint. The coin honours the historic role of the sovereign and the importance of silver in the Mint's heritage as a major Australian gold and silver refiner since 1899. The design on the reverse of the centerpiece of the coin is Benedetto Pistrucci's St George Slaying the Dragon - the same design that was used on all Perth Mint sovereigns.
The P100 mintmark has been positioned where the date would normally have been placed - in the exergue under the dragon on the reverse. The proof coins are housed in a jarrah presentation case and are accompanied by a serial numbered certificate of authenticity. The specimen(uncirculated) version is encapsulated and housed in a green leatherette, hinged-lid presentation case.

As a heritage project for its centenary in 1999, the Perth Mint undertook a world-wide search for 'exceptional' quality examples of all Perth Mint sovereigns. The result was the compilation of 70 complete 33-Sovereign 'P' mintmarked sets.

The Centenary Sovereign accompanied each of these 70 sets, inlaid on the inside of the presentation case lid.
