Notes:

Issued in September, 1998, this coin is the 12th in a 28 Coin Sydney 2000 Aluminium Bronze Specimen Collection produced jointly by the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra and the Perth Mint. The coin is presented, sealed, on a credit-card style pack.

The coin was also included in 5,000 Coin and Pin sets. The design on the lapel pin is a replica of the coin's reverse, set against a coloured enamel panel bearing the name of the sport and the Millenium Man Sydney 2000 Olympic Games emblem.

To complement the $5 coin, Australia's two mints released a handball medallion as part of a Sydney 2000 Olympic Games Mascot Medallions in Colour Collection. The medallion has a colour reverse design and was struck on a blank similar to that used to produce the $5 coin.
