Notes:

This coin is the first Australian bi-metal issue. It was struck to commemorate the centenary of the historic achievement of South Australian suffragists (notably the eminent South Australian suffragist, Mary Lee) to gain women the freedom to vote and the right to stand for public office.

The coin was distributed on a sealed plastic card approximately the same size as a credit card and was not intended for circulation.

The proof version of the 1994 Australian five dollars is a significantly larger coin struck on an Aluminium Bronze blank.
