This token is shown in some catologs with a denomination of twopence as a result of the French Canadian denomination shown on the piece - DEUX SOUS. The piece is shown here with a denomination of one penny as it is approximately the same size, weight and composition as that of pennies and penny tokens then circulating in the colony. If it did circulate in Australia, it would almost certainly have been at a value of one penny.
