Notes:

The 1999 'The Last ANZACS' .999 silver proof dollar with interrupted edge milling was sold through the Royal Australian Mint mailing list and selected numismatic dealers. The coin was distributed, encapsulated, in a square black leatherette, hinged lid case protected by a special presentation box.

The coin was issued as a memento to those Anzacs who fought more than 80 years earlier and sadly, are passing on - their era soon to be gone. Yet, living on, as a legacy to their nations, are the traditions they forged under shell and rifle fire.

What began as an acronyn - ANZAC, for the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps - has entered the language as a word in its own right. 'Anzac' means mateship, a spirit of courage, strength in adversity, selflessness and initiative tempered with a laconic humour.
