This interlocking coin and medal pair was issued at the ANDA Coin show in Adelaide as part of a six coin/medal Holey Dollar State Tribute series. Unlike the standard non-coloured release, the 7-pointed star-shaped centerpiece (or dump) is a medallic issue - it was not given a legal tender value. The reverse design of the dump depicts a full-colour image of South Australia's floral emblem - the Sturt desert pea. On the reverse design of the outer dollar piece, the South Australian badge is portrayed in colour.

As part of Australia's Centenary of Federation celebrations, the Perth Mint created a set of six framed art pieces depicting the State Houses of Parliament, as they were at the turn of the 20th century. The drawings, limited to 100 of each State House (New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia), were created by Australian architectural artist Keith Norris in the traditional Public Works architectural style of the turn of the century.

Measuring 605mm x 465mm, framed in burly wood timber, printed on 100% cotton paper and mounted on archival quality, acid-free matboard, each piece features a description of that State's Parliamentary Building and a short narrative devoted to the State's major proponent for Federation - in South Australia's case - Charles Kingston. All six pieces feature common articles on Sir Henry Parkes and the holey dollar and dump.

Centered in the lower half of the frame is the South Australian coloured holey dollar and medallion dump pair. Each art piece is individually numbered and signed by the artist.
