Notes:

This coin is housed, encapsulated, in a blue metallic presentation box.

Taken from the era of the Egyptians, the reverse design recognises the first people to accurately measure the solar year, the basis for the modern calendar.

The Sun on a gold insert and the morning star (Sirius) are shown rising above Cleopatra's Needle, an obelisk which originally stood in the Temple of the Sun in ancient Heliopolis.

A colour satellite image of Earth completes the central design and is surrounded by winged sun disc images incorporating the cobra and vulture goddesses with the God Ra. Dieties around the outside are holding up the world.

This coin was also included in 2,000 2-Coin Australian Millennium Sets and in 5,000 21st Century Silver 1oz 4 Coin Proof sets released by the Perth mint.

In February, 2002 at the World Money Fair held in Switzerland, this coin won second prize in the 2001 'Coin of the Year' awards.
