Notes:
For the third year, the Perth mint has saluted the panda, an internationally recognised ambassador of China, with the release of this specialcoin incorporating the distinctive panda privy mark positioned on a pure gold insert. The coin was released, encapsulated, in a hinged-lid presentation case accompanied by a numbered certificate.Of the 15,000 mintage limit, 2,000 were reserved for the Australian market, distributed by selected coin dealers and by ballot direct from the Perth mint. The balance of 13,000 were sold within only a few hours at the 1997 International Stamp & Coin Exposition in Shanghai, China in November, 1997.
