Notes:

The 1996 one ounce Colossus of Rhodes Privy Kookaburra in Flight $1 silver coin is the fourth in a series of 15 privy marked coins released by the Perth Mint over a three year period to celebrate the countries forming the European Union. This coin honours Greece who joined the European Union in 1981.
The Colossus of Rhodes was a 37-metre high bronze statue which was believed to have stood at the entrance to Mandraki Harbour on Rhodes Island. The most widely held view is that the statue, with its hollow interior filled with stones, straddled the harbour entrance for 56 years before being destroyed in a violent earthquake in 227 BC.

Mystery surrounds the Collossus of Rhodes. Created by Chares of Lindos as a tribute to the sun god, it took 12 years to complete.

No evidence has been found to suggest its exact location before its destruction and even today, there is no trace of any part of the statue.
