Notes:

The 1996 one ounce Tower Bridge Privy Kookaburra in Flight $1 silver coin is the third in a series of 15 privy marked coins released by the Perth Mint over a three year period to celebrate the countries forming the European Union. This coin honours Great Britain who joined the European Union in 1973.
The Tower Bridge is about 244 metres long between the abutment towers. Its massive Gothic towers are connected with each other near the top by a lattice-work footbridge. The carriage-way is formed by two drawbridges each weighing over 1016 tonnes and which are raised to permit the passage of large vessels through the bridge. The entrance is in the North Tower of the bridge. There are excellent views upstream and downstream from the two walkways which are 18 metres above ground-level.
Tower Bridge, probably the most picturesque of the bridges spanning the Thames from London to Southwark, was opened in 1894. It was designed as the only moveable bridge by Sir Horace Jones, and built by Sir Wolfe Barry to blend with the Tower of London.
