1998 Coins of the Victorian Capital Dual Ten Dollar Set

In 1998, the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra released a Coins of the Victorian Capital Dual Ten Dollar Set. This is the second in an Australian Landmarks series. The two coins in the set are:
  • Melbourne Cricket Ground Ten Dollar and

  • Melbourne Tram Ten Dollar. With a culturally diverse population of 3.2 million drawn from 140 nationalities, and a strong association with the arts, cultural activities and leisure pursuits, Melbourne is regarded as one of the world's most liveable cities.

Two of Melbourne's most recognisable icons, the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Trams of Melbourne, are featured on the reverse of each of the coins in the set. These powerful images of Melbourne define it as a city steeped in culture and history, and yet thriving as a progressive, modern metropolis.

A total of 20,000 sets were released with the two coins being housed, encapsulated in a blue, hinged-lid presentation case and protected by a colourful cardboard box.
